I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh


As I listened to the radio a few weeks back, I heard a song by Rory Comtois, entitled The Very Same Power. The chorus, which goes, “The Very Same Power that raised Christ from the dead, is alive in me. The Very Same Power that overcame the grave, well He lives in me”. Those two lines permeated me right down to my core. I meditated on the lyrics for awhile, reflecting on the fact that the Very Same Power that caused Christ to rise on the third day, abides in me. THAT IS TRUE POWER!! The best part is, God decided to share with us, to give that same life-giving Spirit to all who believe in Him. With that Spirit is great gifts, blessings, and power. The original recipients of the Holy Spirit were the Apostles of the Bible. The numerous manifestations of the Holy Spirit are recorded in the Book of Acts, which I will cover a few Scriptures from. The lame walked, the blind regained sight, and demons were driven out, all in the name of the risen Lord Jesus. When God poured out His Spirit tongues of flame danced about and the people began speaking in unknown tongues. These same manifestations of the Holy Spirit continue in our churches today. The gifts of God are used every day to His glory. They are used to draw the unsaved into relationship with Him, and to solidify those already in relationship with Him. Acts 1:8 illustrates this point, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth”. We are the people Jesus speaks of in the ends of the earth. And we are to continue using this power of the Holy Spirit to be His witnesses in all the earth. Jesus told them that they would receive the Holy Spirit and to stay in the city until they did so, and He will tell you when it is your time as well. “I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high”, Jesus told His disciples shortly before He was crucified, stated in Luke 24:49.

This power that the Lord gives you is not for your own personal gain, but to achieve the will of the Father. He uses this power to heal His people and to deliver them from demonic influence, but only as He wills. He also uses the power of the Holy Spirit to strengthen you. He builds you up so that you may build others up and be an example to many. He tells us this in Ephesians 3:16, saying, “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being”. Everything that the Father uses to build you up, He does so that you may do so for others. In this way the entire Body of Christ grows and is strengthened.

I pray that you received some insight into just how powerful you are in His Name. His Spirit makes you mighty with His strength. I urge you to use this power to win souls to the Body of Christ, and to edify those already in the Body. Remember this key rule, “Freely we receive, freely give”, Matthew 10:8 (NKJV).
