Happy Thanksgiving to all! I have much to be thankful for this year. I thank my Lord because I am still alive and breathing. I thank the Lord for Vicky, the love of my life, and thank Him that I will be marrying her on December 19, 2009. I thank God for Tyler and Evan, my two happy, healthy sons. I praise God and I thank God for the privilege of being almost 40 years old and I still celebrate the holidays with my grandparents. I thank God that they are still self sufficient and not in a nursing home. I thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for my salvation, for dying on the Cross, for saving my soul. I thank Him for the more abundant life that I have because of Him. I could go on and on, and fill the Internet with things that I am thankful for.
This Thanksgiving, remember to thank and praise your Creator, for He and He alone is worthy. If you are still alive and breathing, He deserves the honor and praise. If you have a job, a home, a spouse, children, family, and food on your table, or even if you have none of these things, remember to thank Him. Why, because you still have Him, because He will never leave you nor forsake you. There is always a reason to thank God. Exodus 15:2 says, “The Lord is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise Him, my father’s God, and I will exalt Him”. Moses had to lead a bunch of grumbling Israelites out of Egypt, and he still found a reason to praise God. King David also had much to overcome, and he overcame his obstacles by thanking the Lord, and by praising Him. “The Lord lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be God my Savior!”- Psalm 18:46. The Psalms are full of thanksgiving and praise to the Lord. For, as I said earlier, He alone is worthy. Psalm 147:7 instructs us to “Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; make music to God on the harp”. Your harp can be a guitar, drums, a tambourine, or your voice, just thank God.
I will not keep you long today, for I know that there are big dinners planned with families. Just remember the reason for this holiday, which is to give thanks. We give our thanks to God, for the great and marvelous things that He has done. Go forth, give thanks, give praise to God, and enjoy your holiday. Until next time, may God bless and keep you, and may His face shine upon you.
